Former CANCER Guitarist Changes Name Of Solo Project
March 7, 2005Former CANCER guitarist Rob Engvikson has changed the name of his long-running ASATRU project to DANELAW. "The reason for this is because the band was always supposed to be about Vikings, their way of life, their adventures and achievements, and everything else about Vikings, and I felt that the name ASATRU did steer quite a few people into thinking the band was about the religion itself," he writes on the group's web site. "I have recieved numerous emails to this effect over the years. I feel DANELAW is more relevant as it was the large chunk of England given to the Danish Vikings in 886 as a peace treaty. And, as im from England, and was actually born in the area that was called 'Danelaw', it felt more appropriate. The focus of the music will still be about all Vikings, not just the Danes."
